Cars of the Nissan Primera brand

In this manual the Nissan Primera cars with the 1.6 and 2.0 liters engines since 1990 are considered the issue of Primera is a follower of Bluebirds and is created by Nissan in England. All engines have the 16-valvate mechanism of distribution. Distinctions in separate engines generally concern preparation of working mix. The cars considered in this manual have a body like the four-door sedan or a five-door compartment (hatchback). All series has serial number "P10". The Station wagon cars have various design. The engine of 1.6 l concerns to the GA16 group and is equipped with one two-chamber carburetor with the falling stream. Distinctions are generally shown in engines of 2.0 l. Both engines concern to the SR20 group, however the groups of a letter following designation bear information on the installed power supply system. The engine with a smaller power is equipped with the central system of injection and has the designation "SR20Di". More powerful engine has multiposition system of injection and has the designation "SR20DE".

With the engine of 1.6 liters

1.6-liter models, 1597 cm3, 90 hp/66 kW, the sedan, the GA16DS engine, with the carburetor. Depending on the country of destination the car is made with designation of the L, LX or SLX model. All cars with this engine are serially equipped with the 5-staged transmission. The called power belongs to cars with the catalyst. If the catalyst is not installed, the engine has the power of 95 h.p. (70 kW) at the speed of 6000 rpm.

5-door models the hatchback with this engine are available only in certain countries. They have the same designation.

With the engine 2.0 liters

2.0 liter, 1998 cm 3, 115 hp/85 kW at the speed of 6000 rpm, the sedan, the SR20D engine. Depending on the country of destination the car has the designations "LX", "SLX" or "SGX". In certain countries models the hatchback with the same designation are on sale. Either the 5-staged manual transmission, or the 4-speed automatic transmission is installed on the car. All models are equipped with the catalyst.

2.0 liter, 1998 cm3 150 hp/110 kW, sedan or hatchback, SR20DE engine. For this engine perhaps only execution of "GT" with the 5-staged transmission. The catalyst with a lambda adjustment is serially installed on these cars.

All engines have four cylinders with two camshafts and 16 valves located from above which are put in action by one or two driving chains (depending on the engine) from the crankshaft.

4 valves at an angle 26 ° which have are installed in each cylinder or have no hydraulic compensators of gaps. The block of cylinders of 2-liter engines is manufactured of light alloys.

In both engines pistons of the different sizes and having the different course are used, it means that the volume of the separate cylinder is not reached by boring of the block. The engine is installed in a forward part of the car across to the direction of the movement.

The chassis consists of a body of the bearing design and an independent suspension bracket of forward and back wheels. The suspension bracket of forward wheels of the sedan and a compartment represents a multilever suspension bracket with the lower cross lever, the top diagonal lever with the hinge, and also screw springs and telescopic shock-absorbers. Serially the stabilizer of cross stability is installed. The suspension bracket of back wheels of the sedan and a compartment consists of depreciation racks with double lower levers and the longitudinal lever. On all models the stabilizer of cross stability is serially installed. In models the versatile person (which are not considered in this edition) for a suspension bracket of forward wheels depreciation racks with triangular cross levers and a back suspension bracket on longitudinal levers, with screw springs and a cross bar are used.

As it was already mentioned, the 5-staged manual transmission or the 4-speed automatic transmission is installed.

Models with the engine of 1.6 l have forward disk and back drum brakes, models with the engine of 2.0 l are equipped with disk brakes on forward and back wheels. The brake system is divided into two contours, forward and back, and equipped with the braking force regulator. On certain 2-liter models the ABS system can be installed. The emergency brake influences back wheels.

The car has steering with a gear lath which is serially equipped by the hydraulic booster.
